Thursday: Poke-O Mountain Run

5/16/2013

Thursday evening was the final BEAST race, training on the Patch Sprint course with other local runners. We're only 9 days out from the Patch Sprint, so I decided to run today's "race" at a moderate pace rather than as fast as possible. Since the race was up the steep trail on Poke-O that meant pretty much hiking.

After the hard ascent the group ran easy down the long trail on Poke-O back to the cars, and then Jay Fiegl and I continued on for another loop at a relaxed pace. 1hr 50min of running for 8.5 miles isn't very impressive, but that's mountain running!

Thanks to the whole BEAST crew, and especially Jim Kobak for organizing these great training sessions--it's been tons of fun, and was invaluable for learning the course on which I'll be racing next weekend.

Total Miles: 8.5mi
Weekly So Far: 29.5mi
